4.4 earthquake in the morning; 80 degrees and sunny at the beach in the afternoon. Take the good with the bad, right?

Christmas road trip!
Drove from LA to Portland today with Thompson; we left at 5:30 am to beat the snowstorm that was supposed to move in later during the day through Northern California and Oregon, but luckily the weather turned out to be just about perfect through most of California. On the way, ate one of the best burgers ever for lunch at J's Cafe in Sacramento. Passed the 200,000 mile mark on Thompson's truck somewhere north of there. Stopped by a Walmart in Red Bluff, which was a pure trailer trash experience to the max. Pretty sure no one in that town voted for Obama.
It started snowing right before we got into Oregon, and when they said snowstorm they were NOT joking around. By the time we got to Eugene, the 5 was an ice rink and the last two hours felt like we were just driving through a giant concrete snow field. Never seen it like that before. And then getting home to see all the snow piled up outside was just plain bizarre. But after a relatively short 19-hour drive, I'm glad to be home safe and sound, and ready to pass out. So peace out Interwebs, and Merry Christmas. Hope Santa brings you all the gifts you asked for this year, or at least includes the gift receipts so you can return them for partial or full store credit.
